Legend of Zelda Fan Rumors were "Frustrating" To Donkey Kong developersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in speculation suggesting that Retro Studios was developing a brand new Zelda game.

The artist had previously worked on PlayStation's Uncharted series and, due to some reason, this led fans to make connection. But, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze at the time, and when the game's debut was announced at the time, many Zelda gamers reacted negatively because they were expecting something else. In a new interview with Kiki Talkz on Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky admitted that the rumor was a source of frustration for the development team.

"Sometimes it's hard because it causes false expectations. I believe that was the case when we announced Tropical Freeze. It was saying 'they're working hard on something like a Zelda game, they're working on one Zelda game,' but it wasn't. We've announced Tropical Freeze and it looks phenomenal and it's gorgeous looking and then people think "oh, but it's another Donkey Kong.'
